2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra Win Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards
Things designed and built to a higher standard are often valued for life -- and that includes GMC’s professional-grade pickups.
A professional-grade tool is valued for years, long after it leaves the factory and finds a new home. The same can be said of a professional-grade pickup, as shown by both the 2016 GMC Sierra full-size pickup and 2016 GMC Canyon small pickup truck earning Best Resale Value Awards from Kelley Blue Book.
Now in its fourteenth year, Kelley Blue Book’s annual Best Resale Value Awards recognize vehicles for having higher projected retained values than comparable vehicles in their class or segment.
“A vehicle’s resale value is of critical importance to customers, because a vehicle with high resale value will typically be less expensive to own over time than a similar vehicle with poorer resale value,” said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com.
Resale values are based on projections published in the Kelley Blue Book Official Residual Value Guide, and reflect projected future auction values for vehicles with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or initial ownership period.
“The 2016 GMC Canyon stands out in a field of new and renewed mid-size pickup trucks for its superior resale value, an indicator that the Canyon won’t just be a valuable purchase but will also stand the test of time,” Nerad said. “Likewise, there is a lot of interest in full-size pickup trucks these days, but one thing that has remained steady is the Sierra’s superior resale value, reflective of the premium, professional image of the product itself and the GMC brand.”
“Canyon and Sierra alike are known for delivering premium-grade appointments and unparalleled performance to our customers,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC marketing, “As Kelley Blue Book attests, that reputation for being designed and crafted to a higher standard allows both our pickup trucks to hold their value throughout their life.”
Both Canyon and Sierra offer customers even more in the 2016 model year. The 2016 Canyon is now available with a new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine, which offers both stout torque and an EPA estimated at mpg highway in two-wheel drive models. The 2016 Sierra 1500 boasts a bold new look thanks to a new grille, new headlamps with GMC signature LED lighting, available LED tail lights, and distinctive trim elements designed for each trim level. 2016 Sierra HD models are also available with a new Digital Steer Assist system, which eases driving and maneuvering a heavy-duty pickup.
