How best to describe the essence of GMC’s exterior design? According to the men and women who help shape vehicles like the Sierra HD Denali, the new Acadia All Terrain, and everything in between, it all boils down to one basic idea: be bold.

“One common element on all GMC products is a visual execution of boldness,” says Rob Cameron, strategic design manager for the GMC brand. “Every vehicle in our lineup has a very bold character, and that’s something that’s truly unique to GMC.”

That focus on a bold, distinctive look is readily apparent across the entire GMC portfolio. A strong, prominent grille serves as a visual centerpiece on every GMC, from the Terrain small SUV, all the way up to the mighty Sierra HD heavy-duty pickup, and accentuates the strong lines and surfacing that extend throughout the body sides. C-shaped LED signature lighting, especially on the likes of the Sierra, Acadia, and Yukon, provide a distinctive look, both in daylight and at night.

But while those dramatic forms and strong lines may draw your eye from across the parking lot, there’s still much more to be discovered as you draw closer to the vehicle, or spend more time interacting with a new GMC.

Details like the crisp, three-dimensional elements within Sierra Denali’s grille insert. Details like the chromed surfaces housed within the spokes of Yukon Denali’s optional 22-inch wheels. Details like the lens sculpting – and subtle “GMC logos” -- tucked within the confines of Acadia Denali’s standard projector headlamps.

That attention to detail isn’t circumstantial – it’s the result of GMC designers’ professional-grade focus on precision, and at the heart of the GMC philosophy to push things farther forward and execute at a higher degree of quality and craftsmanship.

“We have paid attention to every last detail, from the overall first impression, to literally the last detail of something like a bezel,” says Max Sullivan, creative designer for GMC exteriors. “We take the mindset that if you’re going to do something, do it well.”
