What does the The GM 100,000-Mile Warranty include?

It includes a lot, beginning with: 5 years/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty*. In addition to our standard bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, for the first time ever, all 2007 and 2008 GM passenger cars and light-duty trucks are covered by this exceptional warranty. There are no deductibles for repairs and the warranty is fully transferable at no charge.

Is my Roadside Assistance coverage extended also? What is the coverage?

5 years/100,000 miles of Roadside Assistance*. The Best Coverage in America also provides you with the added assurance of 24/7 Roadside Assistance. This includes Fuel Delivery so you can reach the nearest service station, as well as Lock-Out, Flat Tire, Jump-Start and certain Emergency Towing services.

GM Roadside Service can be reached 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This service is provided at no charge for any warranty-covered situation, and for a nominal charge if the GM vehicle is no longer under warranty. Roadside Service is available only in the United States and Canada.

Emergency Road Service is performed on-site for the following situations:

  • Towing Service
  • Battery Jump Starting
  • Lock Out Assistance
  • Fuel Delivery
  • Flat Tire Change (covers change only)

What about Courtesy Transportation?

Courtesy Transportation is also included for 5-years/100,000 miles* (whichever comes first) on all 2007 and 2008 passenger cars and light duty trucks. Whenever warranty repairs are required, several transportation options and/or reimbursement of certain transportation expenses are available for your convenience at participating dealers/retailers.

What kind of deductible to I have to pay for all this protection?

There are no deductibles for covered repairs.

Is my vehicle covered from rust, too?

GM vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. See your GM dealer for terms of this limited warranty.

I purchased a GM vehicle in March. Is my new vehicle eligible?

Yes. If you already purchased a 2007 or 2008 GM vehicle, your new vehicle is automatically covered under our 100,000-Mile/5-year Powertrain Limited Warranty* at no extra cost. You will receive an updated warranty booklet insert for your glove box literature in the next several weeks.

Are medium duty trucks included in the new program?

No, this powertrain warranty enhancement is only available on GM light duty vehicles. GM Medium Duty trucks have a comprehensive warranty, plus roadside assistance and courtesy transportation coverage, but are not included in this enhancement.

I have a 2006 GM vehicle with the exact same vehicle/powertrain as the 2007. Why isn't my vehicle eligible?

Unfortunately, the new extended powertrain warranty is available as a new feature on 2007 and 2008 models only. However, you may want to contact your GM dealer to discuss the many GMPP products that can be tailored to include only the powertrain components.

Because you have also purchased a GM Protection Plan Vehicle Service Contract, our GM Protection Plan team will be contacting you by mail shortly with additional details on how the new GM 100,000-Mile/5-year Limited Warranty impacts your GM Protection Plan Contract.

Do I have to take my vehicle to a GM dealer for maintenance to maintain my extended powertrain eligibility?

GM dealer/retailers have the specialized training and GM genuine parts and accessories to ensure your vehicle is repaired and maintained properly. Although you are not required to have your vehicle serviced at a GM deal/retailership, we highly recommend that you do. In addition, we encourage you to keep detailed records and receipts of your maintenance history.

Does the required Maintenance of my vehicle change as a result of this new powertrain limited warranty?

As a vehicle owner, you are responsible for the performance of the scheduled maintenance listed in your Owners Manual. Your owners manual provides a detailed maintenance schedule that you should follow for your specific vehicle and driving habits. In addition, we strongly encourage you to keep detailed records and receipts of your maintenance history.

What does StabiliTrak® do?

StabiliTrak is an electronic stability control system that's designed to help aid vehicle stability, particularly on slick surfaces or during emergency maneuvers. When this system senses that the vehicle is not responding to steering input from the driver, the system adjusts engine torque and/or brake pressure to the individual wheels, which helps the driver get the vehicle back on its intended track.
