Once again, GMC's commitment to never say, "That's good enough," is about to go on display.
In early 2009, GMC will introduce the Sierra Hybrid - a full size, fully capable V8 powered truck that will deliver a 40%25 improvement in city fuel economy when compared to the 2008 6.0L non-hybrid Sierra.*
Powered by GM's patented 2-Mode Hybrid, Sierra Hybrid will offer the best of both worlds: hybrid benefits in both stop-and-go traffic, or on the highway. GM offers the only full size pickups with hybrid powertrains.‡
Here's how the 2-Mode Hybrid system works: The first mode is used at low speeds and with light loads, running exclusively under electric power. On the highway, the second mode engages a full V8 engine for confident towing, passing, or climbing.
GMC made sure that all the power and performance that defines Sierra is still there. The Sierra Hybrid's Vortec™ 6.0L V8 engine will produce 332 horsepower (248 kW) at 5,100 rpm and 367 lb-ft of torque (497 Nm) at 4,100 rpm and has a 6,100-pound (2,767 kg) towing capacity.†
