Terrain Safety Features

  • Six Standard Air Bags

    Six Standard Air Bags

Terrain features state of the art air bag technology. The dual-stage driver and front passenger air bags are capable of low- or high-level air bag deployment depending on crash severity. For side impacts, air bags mounted on the driver and front-passenger seat provide thorax protection of front row occupants. And standard roof-rail-mounted head-curtain air bags provide additional head protection of both front- and outboard second-row occupants.

  • Anti-Lock Brakes

  • StabiliTrak Stability Control System with Traction Control

StabiliTrak Stability Control System with Traction Control

StabiliTrak compares steering input with vehicle response and adjusts when needed to help you keep on track and provide added safety.

If the vehicle is not responding to steering input, StabiliTrak applies brake pressure to any individual wheel and may adjust engine speed to help you keep the vehicle on track and reduce the risk of vehicle rollover.

  • Roll-Over Mitigation

    Roll-Over Mitigation

Utilizing advanced electronics, Terrain's "roll-over" sensor continually measures the vehicle's status. When an impending roll-over is detected, the system deploys the head-curtain side air bags and the vehicles safety-belt pretensioners.

Air bag inflation can cause severe injury or death to anyone too close to the air bag when it deploys. Always use safety belts and the correct restraint for your child's age and size. Even in vehicles equipped with the Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with a passenger air bag. See the Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information.
