GMC DIY CHALLENGE: PROFESSIONAL GRADE CREATIVITY

Much like creating a new GMC, creating a DIY project from scratch requires incredible creativity, tenacity, attention to detail, focus, and determination. That’s why we put three prominent DIY experts to the test in the GMC DIY Challenge.

Much like creating a new GMC truck, crossover, or SUV, crafting a DIY project from scratch requires incredible creativity, tenacity, attention to detail, focus, and determination. That’s why we hosted the GMC DIY Challenge, where we asked three prominent DIY experts to put their skills to the test.

The task? We asked three DIY experts – Vanessa de Vargas of Turquoise LA, Justin DiPego of Do It With Justin, and professional DIYer Clint Browning – to create a piece of furniture and home décor for a particular room in a Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) home, which was then donated to a new Habitat LA partner homeowner.

Simple enough, right? Think again – we put our DIYers’ creativity to the mettle, asking them to repurpose furniture items and parts found at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We also tested their focus and drive, giving them an hour to source materials and only one day to build their entire project from start to finish.

In the end, each project was evaluated by a panel of judges for not only creativity, but also precision and professionalism – the same qualities found in a GMC.

Which team emerged victorious? Watch this year’s DIY Challenge episode above.
