The GMC Canyon small pickup truck offers the capability and refinement expected of a GMC pickup truck but in a maneuverable, agile package.

For an overview of what helps set the GMC Canyon apart from other midsize truck competitors, we turned to Jason Fenske, the engineer behind the popular “Engineering Explained” YouTube channel.

INTERIOR
The 2017 Canyon may be a small pickup truck, but it offers the same levels of refinement inside its cabin as its larger Sierra siblings. Triple sealed doors help keep road and wind noise to a minimum, while premium materials – including authentic aluminum trim and a soft-touch instrument panel with contrasting accent stitching – lend a touch of class. Functionality hasn’t been forgotten, either, as Canyon’s cabin offers plenty of convenient storage areas, including hidden storage underneath the rear seats.

EXTERIOR
Canyon was designed from square one to be as stylish as it is capable. Canyon SLT builds upon Canyon’s bold, sculpted sheetmetal by including 18” aluminum wheels, LED signature lighting, and chrome-capped heated power side-view mirrors as standard equipment.

CARGO BED
Canyon SLT’s cargo box is built to work hard, but it’s also designed to work smart. A standard CornerStep rear bumper, paired with convenient hand grabs in the top of the bed side rails, eases climbing in and out of the pickup box. A standard EZ Lift and Lower tailgate makes opening and closing the tailgate with one hand a breeze. Canyon SLT also includes four movable upper tie-down rings, which can be moved to 13 different positions to ensure cargo of almost any shape or size is properly secured.

BLUETOOTH/ APPLE CAR PLAY
Staying connected while on the go is important, and Canyon SLT doesn’t disappoint. Its standard 8” diagonal Intellilink infotainment system includes Bluetooth hands-free functionality, allowing you to take and place calls without picking up your phone. Canyon SLT is also compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which allows select smartphone functionality to be displayed within the Intellilink screen itself.
