Whether it’s hauling a heavy payload or pulling a large trailer, a heavy-duty pickup needs to be able to deliver peak performance at a moment’s notice, especially when accelerating off the line or merging onto freeways. The 2017 GMC Sierra HD provides that confident power thanks in no small part to its available 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 engine.

For 2017, our engineers set out to further redefine what the Duramax could deliver in terms of performance, strength, and refinement, and left no stone unturned. The latest Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 is an incredibly strong design, delivering 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque – all while offering more refinement than ever before.

Learn more about the new Duramax – and how it plays a key role in the 2017 Sierra HD delivering confident capability – from both Jeff Luke, chief engineer for the Sierra HD, and Gary Arvan, chief engineer for the Duramax Diesel.
