MYGMCAPP: SIX WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED WITH YOUR GMC
From remote control to scheduling service appointments and beyond, the new myGMC mobile app is a convenient way to stay connected and informed.
You bought your GMC truck, SUV, or crossover because it’s capable, comfortable, and connected. To that end, the new myGMC mobile app1, available for both Apple iOS2 and Android3 smartphones, provides an unparalleled level of connectivity, control, and convenience to owners of most GMC 2010 model year and newer vehicles.
By seamlessly integrating all of the tools needed for vehicle management along with the connectivity provided by OnStar4 into one application, the new myGMC app is a valuable tool. Here are six ways myGMC allows you to connect with your GMC truck:
1. REMOTE CONTROL
Thanks to the myGMC app, your smartphone can essentially serve as a remote keyfob for your GMC, even when you’re nowhere near it. Touching the “Remote Commands” tab brings up controls that allow you to lock or unlock your GMC, activate horn and flash lights, and remotely start the engine, if properly equipped.
2. STAY INFORMED
Whether you want to see how much range you have left in your fuel tank, check tire pressure-, keep tabs on remaining oil life, or check your odometer, the “Vehicle Status” tab quickly provides this information with the tap of a finger.
Want to remember exactly where you’ve parked? Tap the “Parked Location” tab to learn more. The “Locate Vehicle”5 button works in conjunction with your GMC’s available OnStar service to provide a rough estimate – both in terms of an address and a pin on a map -- of where your GMC is parked. Scroll further down the page, and you’ll find a few other handy tools. If you’re parked at a parking meter, you can set a timer to remember when to feed the meter once again. 3. CHANGE CONNECTIVITY SETTINGS
If your GMC is equipped with an available in-vehicle OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot6, you can use the myGMC app to manage the hotspot by selecting the “Wi-Fi Hotspot” tab. Not only can you easily keep tabs on remaining data available on your OnStar data plan, but you can easily customize the network’s SSID name and password to your liking. The settings will be applied at the next ignition cycle.
4. ENHANCE YOUR EDUCATION
Have a question about your GMC, but aren’t able to duck in and grab the owner’s manual out of the glovebox? The “Owners Manual” tab in the myGMC app provides quick access to user guides and information pertaining to frequently asked questions. If you have a quick question about a button, Bluetooth phone pairing, telltale icon, service intervals, or more, you’ll likely find it here.
5. SCHEDULE SERVICE
Did you notice your Oil Life Monitor reading low on a recent drive? Did your odometer roll over a scheduled maintenance interval on the way to dinner last night? If so, there’s no need to make a reminder to call your local GMC dealer later on to schedule a Certified Service appointment. Now, you can simply tap the “Schedule Service” tab within the myGMC app. In addition to your preferred GMC dealer, myGMC can pinpoint nearby GMC service centers, and allow you to quickly schedule regular maintenance, oil changes, tire rotations, and many other vehicle services in seconds.
6. CALL FOR HELP
Have a flat tire, or need roadside assistance? myGMC is here to help. If your vehicle is eligible for roadside assistance7, tapping the “Roadside Assistance” button allows you to quickly request a tow, tire change, jump start, or more. You can also easily get in touch with an OnStar advisor by touching the “Assistance” button.
How to Use myGMC Mobile App
- Download the myGMC mobile app from the Apple® App Store or Google PlayTM
- Register through the app or GMC Owner Center at my.gmc.com. Select mobile app features come included with the OnStar Basic Plan8, at no additional charge up to five years. (insert disclosure)
