What is a Level 2 EV charger?

Level 2 is the most common charging speed for EVs. A Level 2 charger is a 240-volt alternating current (AC) charging station. It provides up to 50% increase in charging capability compared to a standard 120-volt household outlet with Level 1 charging. Level 2 EV chargers are widely used at home and at public charging stations. Home charging stations require professional installation.*

What factors affect EV charging speed?

Several conditions can affect the time it takes to charge an EV. Some of the most common ones include weather, charger type, a vehicle’s maximum charging rate, battery condition, the battery’s state of charge and load sharing technology at public charging stations.
