HOW TO UNLOCK, LOCK, AND START YOUR VEHICLE USING A KEY CARD

The key card provided with your vehicle is designed to be a backup in situations where your key fob isn’t available. The card allows you to unlock and lock the vehicle, plus start it within 2 minutes of unlocking.

HOW IT WORKS

Unlocking the Driver’s Door:

1. Briefly hold your key card at the spot shown on the reverse side of the card.

‒ This location varies by model.

2. Once unlocked, you have 2 minutes to start the vehicle.

‒ A message in the center display will show a timer and prompts to start the vehicle.

3. If the time expires, hold your key card at the designated spot again and the time will reset.

Locking All Doors:

1. Make sure the vehicle is off, and all doors and windows are closed.

2. Briefly hold your key card at the spot shown on the reverse side of the card.

‒ If at least one door is unlocked, doing this will lock the vehicle.

Note: Some key cards may require software updates to function as designed. For these cards, it is recommended to use the key fob until you receive communications from your dealer alerting you of software updates.

Key Card Usage Tips:

  • The back of the card shows where to tap to unlock or lock.
  • One key card is provided with the vehicle, but up to 7 additional key cards can be purchased from your dealer.
  • Treat the key card like an additional key fob and store it securely.
  • Don’t write on or punch holes in the key card.
  • If the key card is lost or stolen, see your dealer to purchase a replacement. Your dealer can also deactivate lost cards to help prevent unauthorized vehicle access.

For your security, please don’t include personal info such as phone number, address or credit card details.

Q&As

Does the dealer need to activate my key card?

No. The key card that’s included with your vehicle is already activated. As with a key fob, it is only necessary for the dealer to program it when receiving a replacement or an additional household key card.

How can I receive additional key cards?

You can purchase up to 7 additional key cards to have on hand in case the one you received with your vehicle has to be replaced, or for additional household members.

Will the key card work for more than one vehicle?

No. The key card will only work for the vehicle it’s been paired with.

What if I lose my key card?

If you lose your key card, see your dealer to purchase a replacement and to deactivate the lost card to help prevent unauthorized vehicle access.

What happens if I don’t start the vehicle before the timer expires when using my key card?

If the timer shown on your center display expires before you’ve started your vehicle, hold the card at the reader again to reset the time.

What should I do if my key card isn’t working properly?

If you have issues with your key card functionality, contact your dealer. For problems related to key card recognition by the vehicle, it is recommended to use the key fob until you receive notification that important updates to help improve card recognition are completed.
