A Duramax engine is a line of diesel engines produced by GM for light and heavy-duty trucks and large SUVs. The GMC lineup offers two, including the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine with 305 horsepower, 495 lb.-ft. of torque and an available max tow rating of up to 13,300 lbs.* on Sierra 1500. The Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine is GMC’s most powerful diesel with 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft. of torque, along with available max towing of up to 36,000 lbs.* on Sierra 3500 HD.

A V8 is an eight-cylinder internal combustion engine with cylinders arranged in two banks of four cylinders, forming a V shape with a common crankshaft and is available on a variety of GMC vehicles. The 5.3L V8 engine offers 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The 6.2L V8 engine features 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Both are available on select Sierra 1500 and Yukon trim levels. The 6.6L V8 gas engine delivers 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque and is standard on Sierra Heavy Duty models and available on Savana vans.
