Available on select GMC models, Apple CarPlay offers the convenience of accessing many smartphone features and apps through the vehicle’s display and controls.

Between real-time traffic updates, navigation directions, hands-free calling, and streaming audio services, today’s smartphones offer many features that can be beneficial while on the go.

GMC has a solution. Select Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, Canyon, and Sierra models offer infotainment systems that support Apple CarPlay† connectivity.

SIMPLIFIED INTERFACE
Apple CarPlay is designed for Apple iPhones† running iOS 7.1 or later, and aims to provide the driver with a simple way to not only connect a phone to his or her vehicle, but remain connected with their music, calendar, and other personal data.

More importantly, drivers won’t need to pick up their phone in order to control certain apps.  Instead, they can utilize the touchscreen, steering wheel controls, or select voice commands to control their device while keeping their eyes on the road ahead.

HOW TO USE
First, connect a compatible phone with the vehicle via a USB docking cable†. Depending on the vehicle and its equipment, a usable USB port may be located in the center console or glovebox. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific details.

Once the phone is connected by USB cable and recognized by the system, an icon on the radio screen labeled “Projection” will change to “Apple CarPlay.” Pushing this icon will then launch the full Apple CarPlay interface on the color touch radio screen.

A WORLD OF APPS
While not every application on a smartphone is compatible with Apple CarPlay, by and large it offers the convenience of accessing many smartphone features and apps through the vehicle’s display and controls. For more information on apps compatible with Apple CarPlay, please click here.
