Bold looks. Refined interior. Strong capability. Premium performance. These are the attributes that have not only made the GMC Sierra Denali an icon in its class, but also help distinguish the GMC Sierra Denali from other full-size half-ton pickups on the market.

In order to take a closer look at the details that truly make the GMC Sierra Denali a true Denali, we asked Jason Fenske, the engineer behind “Engineering Explained,” to walk through the features that allow Sierra Denali to provide aunique blend of premium appointments and smart capability.

EXTERIOR
Sierra Denali stands out from the crowd thanks to bold styling, accentuated with precisely-crafted details that are both stylish and functional. Case in point? Sierra Denali includes headlamps that not only utilize LED lighting to deliver GMC’s C-shaped signature lighting, but also utilizes LEDs for both high and low-beam headlamps. A standard spray-on bedliner, capped with a bold three-dimensional “DENALI” emblem at the front of the box, protects bed surfaces from cargo and debris while delivering added grip. And a standard Corner Step rear bumper, along with a power-locking EZ-Lift-and-Lower tailgate, ease getting in and out of the pickup box.

INTERIOR
Sierra Denali has an interior as equally impressive as its powertrain and capability. Premium materials, like real, brushed aluminum trim, soft-touch dash trim with contrasting accent stitching, perforated leather-appointed seating, and other unique touches easily set Denali apart from other trucks. Those upscale appointments are paired with advanced technology, including a configurable 8-inch diagonal Driver Information Center within the gauge cluster, and an 8-inch diagonal IntelliLink infotainment system, complete with navigation, Bluetooth and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

QUIET CABIN
Even before adding the premium materials, GMC engineers worked to ensure Sierra Denali’s cab could be as refined as possible. In a calculated effort to help minimize road and wind noise, GMC engineers carefully shaped the cab and mirrors to be as aerodynamically efficient as possible. Inlaid doors, along with triple-layer door seals, further help keep wind noise from intruding into the cabin. Select Sierra Denali models are also available with a Bose active noise reduction system, which utilizes the audio system to further help block unwanted noises under certain conditions.

ENGINE
A robust powertrain plays a big role in providing great performance, and Sierra Denali’s available 6.2-liter V-8 is no slouch, thanks to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Advanced technologies, such as direct injection, continual variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management all contribute to not only maximizing efficiency, but delivering peak power when needed most.

TRI-MODE POWER STEPS
Available on Sierra Denali and standard on the Sierra Denali Ultimate, these innovative powered steps provide elegant and effortless access to both cab and cargo alike. Open any of the cab doors, and the steps quickly fold down for use. Tap a shoe on the rear edge of the step board, and the entire assembly pivots rearward, allowing you to step up and reach items within the cargo box.
