2022 GMC SIERRA 1500 DENALI ULTIMATE HERALDS A NEW ERA AS THE MOST ADVANCED, LUXURIOUS PICKUP IN ITS CLASS†
There’s one name that defines what it means to be a highly capable premium pickup — GMC Sierra 1500.
But with the new 2022 Sierra 1500, GMC is setting new standards for this professional grade truck that’s famous for precision craftsmanship and advanced innovations. From its bold new look and next-level technologies to the remarkable power and capability found under the hood, this Sierra 1500 pickup truck does more than just standout on the trails and city streets. It dominates them.
The New Sierra 1500 will be the latest GMC to be available with Super Cruise™† (Limited Availability), the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance technology for compatible roads. The 2022 model year also introduces two new trims: Sierra Denali Ultimate, the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class†; and Sierra 1500 AT4X, the new peak of premium off roading.
“With the new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, we wanted to exceed our customers desire for an authentically premium pickup with serious strength and capability,” GMC Marketing Director Rich Latek said. “That meant taking Sierra 1500 to all new heights of advanced technology, precision craftsmanship and first-class comfort. The result is a Sierra that is designed and engineered in every way to conquer the road ahead without any compromises.”
NEXT-LEVEL TECHNOLOGY
GMC Sierra 1500 has never come up short with introducing available cutting-edge innovations to help drivers stay in control, whether towing a trailer or hauling materials for a home project.
This is especially true with Super Cruise™† (Limited Availability) — an advanced hands-free driver assistance technology that can be used on more than 200,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.
This hands-free driver assistance system provides ease and convenience by not only managing speed and steering but has Automatic Lane Change†, which initiates a single lane change under optimum conditions (Automatic Lane Change and Lane Change on Demand are not available while trailering). Once a driver has activated Automatic Lane Change under the Settings menu and the truck has been set at a specific speed, Super Cruise will look to maintain that speed. And if conditions allow, the system will perform a lane change automatically to remain at that speed.
As for towing†, GMC thought of that too. Super Cruise includes the ability to pull a† trailer, boat, camper and more while driving hands free on a compatible roadway. So truck owners can give their hands a break while keeping their attention to the road.

The new advancements don’t stop there. Standard on trims SLE and above is a massive customizable multicolor 13.4-inch diagonal touch-screen with the next-generation GMC Infotainment System† with Google built-in† compatibility. Compatible with Apple and Android devices, drivers with an active data plan can access a Google Assistant†, Google Maps, and Google Play, which provides access to hands-free help, live traffic updates, some of your favorite apps and more. Sierra trims AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate include 3 years access to GMC Connected Services.
For example, Google Maps can be used to locate Super Cruise compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. Drivers can even add stops along a route, get real-time traffic updates and find information about businesses and attractions like hours of operation.
With Google Assistant, drivers can use their voice to get things done in the car. While keeping hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, drivers can call or text with a compatible smartphone, adjust the temperature inside the pickup’s cabin, enjoy hands-free access to media, control compatible smart home devices and more just by saying “Hey Google,” or pressing the push to talk button on the steering wheel.
The larger touch-screen can be used to access up to an available 14 camera views† that can help keep tabs on the truck and trailer. The camera views include HD Surround Vision†, Rear Camera Mirror† and Bed View Camera†.

Both the touch-screen and new 12.3-inch diagonal driver information center even offer customization to suit preferences. The touch-screen can be configured in numerous ways to suit a driver’s needs. The driver information center, meanwhile, has four themes (Classic, Progressive, Digital and Clean) that can each be customized to display the information preferred by the driver.

And these digital displays will add up to a unique feature when combined with the available 15-inch diagonal multicolor Head-Up Display. The larger touch-screen, driver information center and Head-Up Display offers over 40 inches of combined diagonal driver-focused digital displays — the most in its class†.
HEAD-TURNING STYLE
Inside and out, GMC made no comprise in the design and craftsmanship of Sierra 1500, further cementing this truck’s reputation as a premium pickup that’s meant to be used.
The exterior features new grille designs and finishes, new front and rear bumpers, and new LED lighting with animated lighting sequences that activate when approaching, starting or walking away from the truck.
The pinnacle of GMC’s craftsmanship is Sierra Denali, of course. The Sierra Denali includes new body-color front and rear bumpers, and available exclusive 22-inch painted aluminum wheels with machining and chrome inserts. Other exterior chrome elements are the signature Denali grille, front recovery hooks†, mirror caps, door handles and wheel-to-wheel assist steps.
GMC’s signature high level of craftsmanship extends to the interior with premium Forge perforated leather seating surfaces and leather head restraints featuring an embroidered Denali logo. The 12-way power-adjustable front seats are heated and ventilated for added comfort. And an authentic open-pore wood and brushed aluminum serve as trim throughout the interior for a sophisticated appearance.
The Bose®† Premium Sound System with a Richbass subwoofer, meanwhile, delivers clear, high-quality sound. While standard for Sierra Denali, this sound system is available for Elevation, AT4 and SLT trims.

Then there’s Sierra Denali Ultimate — the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class. This new trim differentiates itself with its own unique grille in Vader chrome finish. This same finish is carried over on the fender surrounds and GMC logos on the pickup’s front and rear. Denali Ultimate also features exclusive 22-inch low gloss black aluminum wheels with machined accents and power articulating assist steps.
On the inside, Sierra Denali Ultimate is pure first-class with the Alpine Umber interior. Durable but soft-to-the-touch, full-grain leather appointments are used on the door panels and mid console. This same leather fully wraps the best-in-class† 16-way power front massaging seats. For an added touch, a topographic pattern for Mount Denali has been embossed on the leather for the front and rear seats, doors and map back pockets. Other interior features include premium microsuede headliner, unique aluminum trim and Paldao wood accents with the coordinates for Mount Denali laser etched into them.

The comfort of this cabin is matched with a rich and spacious audio experience courtesy of the 12-speaker Bose Premium Series with CenterPoint Surround, AudioPilot Noise Compensation and Richbass woofer. The system is crafted for immersive listening while the etched stainless speaker grilles give a decidedly premium appearance.
SERIOUS CAPABILITY
Whatever the needs are, 2022 Sierra 1500 has a four available powertrain choices, as well as purpose-built innovations and technologies, to accomplish any job with ease.
The engine lineup includes the 6.2L V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, 5.3L V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque and 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel with best-in-class 277 diesel hp, 460 lb.-ft. of torque and best-in-class 4WD diesel towing capacity of 13,000 lbs†. All three are mated to a 10-speed transmission. In addition, GMC has made significant enhancements with the 2.7 turbo high-output engine for improved acoustics and performance. This engine now boasts a GM-estimated 420 lb.-ft. of torque — an increase of more than 20 percent, along with its 310 hp.
If capability to take on the most punishing of environments is what you need, then don’t look any further than the new 2022 Sierra AT4 and first ever Sierra AT4X. These premium off-road trucks will not only dominate the trails but offer first-class amenities. In particular, the new AT4X trim elevates the ability to go off the grid on a whole new level with unique features and technologies.
But capability means more than just going off road. The new 2022 Sierra 1500 offers the most trailering assistance technologies in its class†. These technologies are designed to help bring ease to the hitching and trailering process like the available ProGrade Trailering System† that utilizes available camera views and available In-Vehicle Trailering App† that are integrated into the GMC Infotainment System.
Some of the key features of the ProGrade Trailering System are:
• Trailer light test: Conducts a specific lighting sequence (apply brake lights, turn signals, etc.) to ensure trailer lights are functioning properly.
• Customizable trailer profiles: Store relevant information about connected trailers. This can include maintenance intervals and trailer mileage.
• Predeparture checklists: Obtain step-by-step guides on connecting a trailer to the truck.
• Access up to 14 available camera views: These multiple camera views include the industry-first Transparent Trailer†.
• myGMC Mobile App†: Use a compatible smartphone for added assistance with the trailering experience.
In addition, the available Adaptive Cruise Control† feature is trailering compatible. This technology can automatically maintain a driver-selected gap time from the detected vehicle you’re following while you steer. This feature reduces the need to frequently brake and accelerate when you’re driving.
Technologies to assist with towing aren’t the only new purpose-built feature for this pickup either. The new Gross Vehicle Weight Rating Alert will signal when the maximum weight that Sierra can safely carry is exceeded. While the gross vehicle weight rating doesn’t include the total weight of any trailer being towed, it does include passengers and cargo.
As for innovations, 2022 Sierra 1500 is available with the industry’s first CarbonPro™ carbon composite bed. The CarbonPro’s carbon-fiber composite bed material provides excellent scratch, dent and corrosion resistance. It will be available for Denali and AT4 trims, and standard for Sierra Denali Ultimate. If that wasn’t enough, the world’s first six-function MultiPro Tailgate is standard on trims SLE and above with Sierra Denali Ultimate and Sierra AT4X even featuring the MultiPro Audio System by KICKER®† as standard equipment.
