HOW GMC SMART DRIVER CAN HELP IMPROVE YOUR DRIVING, EARN INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

SHARE:

Regardless of whether you’ve been operating a motor vehicle for two years or 20, even the best drivers can make room for improvement.

After all, the better your skills, the more adept you’ll be at properly operating your GMC SUV or truck.

That’s where GMC Smart Driver comes in. This feature is designed to help motorists understand their driving behaviors and see how they compare to other anonymous drivers. It is included with GMC Connected Access and contains tips to help motorists change their behavior, aid them in adopting smarter driving habits and possibly qualify for insurance discounts from participating insurance carriers.

GMC Smart Driver works by gathering data from your vehicle upon every ignition cycle. You can review this information via the myGMC Mobile App.

This app can be downloaded at the App Store for Apple devices or on Google Play for Android devices. You can also download the myGMC app by texting “myGMC” to the number 56000.

Once you’ve downloaded the myGMC app, open it and tap the icon next to GMC Smart Driver Driving Activity.

You’ll then be provided with an updated trip score at the top of the screen and stats about your driving behavior listed below. This information includes data like hard braking, hard acceleration, late night driving, distance driven and fuel economy. You can also view breakdowns of your daily, weekly and monthly driving scores, which are all based on your driving behavior.

Following 90 days of using GMC Smart Driver, qualified and enrolled drivers will receive information about eligible insurance discounts. To view this information, simply tap “Explore Insurance Discounts” at the bottom of the updated trip score page under the myGMC app.

Check out the myGMC Mobile App experience simulator to explore this and other features. You can also find more information about the myGMC app on the OnStar® page.
