INTRODUCING THE NEXT GENERATION 2019 GMC SIERRA DENALI

All-new from grille to gate, the Next Generation Sierra full-size pickup will offer unprecedented levels of presence, purpose, and power – all traits best exemplified by the 2019 Sierra Denali.

For decades, the GMC Sierra represented the embodiment of strength, capability, premium design, and refinement in a full-size pickup truck. That has never been more true than with the Next Generation 2019 GMC Sierra - especially the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali, which goes on sale in fall 2018.

From grille to gate, GMC engineers and designers paid close attention to every detail on the Next Generation Sierra. The result? A full-size pickup that delivers the traits expected of a GMC while simultaneously raising standards for the full-size pickup segment. The Next Generation Sierra Denali is a full-size pickup that builds upon proven strengths while introducing a number of industry-first innovations.

BOLD EXTERIOR BEGINNINGS
All-new from the ground-up, the Next Generation Sierra Denali literally stands tall, with a strong, purposeful stance. GMC designers built upon that prominent foundation with bold bodywork, including chiseled shoulders and a tall, powerful hood, which is capped with a grille that’s bigger and bolder than any prior Sierra.

Like other modern GMC designs, including the 2018 Terrain, advanced lighting technology plays a key role in shaping the 2019 Sierra. New “light blade” signature lighting elements within Sierra Denali’s headlamps help accentuate the pickup truck’s exterior design, providing a distinctive appearance no matter the time of day.

The Next Generation Sierra Denali further stands apart from other trucks thanks to a unique grille insert with finely-sculpted accents, prominent badging, and distinctive wheels. 20-inch polished aluminum wheels are standard on Sierra Denali while 22-inch multidimensional ultra-bright aluminum wheels are optional.

ELEVATED INTERIOR EXPERIENCE
For over twenty years, the Denali name has been synonymous with refinement and sophistication. The 2019 Sierra Denali builds upon that legacy by way of a more spacious, driver-focused interior that’s trimmed in premium materials.

Sierra’s cabin puts the driver at the center of everything, thanks in part to a higher seating position that allows for a confident, commanding view from behind the wheel. Driver focus doesn’t mean passengers aren’t forgotten. The new Sierra crew cab is larger than before, providing best-in-class front head- and legroom (max.), along with more rear-seat legroom than ever before.

GMC designers paid close attention to the look and feel of the trim and materials used throughout Sierra’s cabin. Exclusive Forge leather-appointed seating uses a premium, large-pebbled grain and a bold, contrasting stitch pattern. Dark-finish aluminum and open-pore wood trim accents are inspired by modern hand-crafted furniture.

SEGMENT-LEADING INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES
Sierra Denali’s interior is also well-appointed with a wide array of advanced, smart technologies, all seamlessly integrated to provide the driver with new levels of comfort, convenience, and connectivity.

Highlights include:

  • Segment-First Multi-Color 15" Diagonal Head-Up Display: The 2019 Sierra is available with the segment’s first multi-color, customizable head-up display, which projects key vehicle and infotainment system information on the windshield within the driver’s line of sight.
  • Surround Vision: This available feature provides the driver with a “bird’s eye” view of the area around the truck on the infotainment screen.
  • Segment-First Rear Camera Mirror: The Sierra’s dual-function mirror can be used as a conventional rear-view mirror or as a camera-based rear-view mirror that helps the driver see around potential vision obstructions.
  • Active Safety Features: Offering a full suite of available active safety features, the 2019 Sierra Denali will be available with Front Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Front and Rear Park Assist, and Low-Speed Forward Automatic braking, amongst others.

TRAILERING TECHNOLOGIES
Sierra Denali’s innovative technologies also extend to trailering. The ProGrade Trailering System includes a number of features designed to take the guesswork out of connecting and towing a trailer.

ProGrade Trailering feature highlights include:

  • Trailering App: Integrated into Sierra’s infotainment screen, the Trailering App can provide a step-by-step checklist of tasks required to connect a trailer to the truck, along with provide trailer maintenance reminders, trailer tire pressures (additional equipment required), and even start a trailer lighting test sequence. The lighting test and connection guide will also be accessible by way of the myGMC smartphone application.
  • Theft Alert: To discourage trailer theft, Theft Alert extends Sierra’s theft alert capabilities to the trailer. If a trailer is disconnected while the Sierra is parked and locked, the truck’s lights and horn is triggered.
  • Hitch Guidance with Hitch View: Sierra’s Rear Vision Camera not only incorporates dynamic guidance lines for the truck itself, but also one for the trailer hitch. A Hitch View mode allows the driver to zoom in on the hitch for careful maneuvering. The system can also be briefly accessed while in motion to ensure the trailer is properly connected.
  • Auto Electric Parking Brake Assist: To help with positioning after backing up to a trailer hitch, Sierra can automatically apply the parking brake when shifting into park, preventing any further movement.
  • Integrated Trailer Brake Controller: This integrated controller now allows drivers to program trailer brake level settings to specific trailer profiles.
  • Hitch Area Lighting: a new lamp integrated into the tailgate panel shines directly down on the receiver hitch area, easing trailer connections in the dark.

MULTI-PRO TAILGATE
Sierra Denali may well be a multi-purpose vehicle, but owners often make extensive use of the pickup box, regardless of the task at hand. GMC engineers spent a lot of time designing the 2019 Sierra Denali’s pickup box in order to take its functionality even further.

Nowhere is that more evident than the available industry-first GMC MultiProTM Tailgate, which makes its debut on the Next Generation Sierra. Standard on Sierra Denali and SLT, the MultiPro Tailgate is the most innovative pickup tailgate ever with six unique functions and positions, offering enhanced second-tier loading and load-stop solutions, and easier access to items in the box.

The MultiPro Tailgate also incorporates a step entry and egress mode that, when paired with the assist handle, offers both step and seated functionality. Ease-of-use is enhanced with two buttons on the tailgate handle, allowing convenient minor gate release.

BUILDING A BETTER PICKUP BOX
The 2019 Sierra Denali offers best-in-class cargo volume - 62.9 cubic feet on short-box models and 89.1 cubic feet on standard box models. Sierra’s available 5-foot, 8-inch pickup box actually offers more cargo volume than Ford or Ram’s 6.5-foot-long standard boxes. An available 120-volt power outlet further adds to Sierra’s versatility, as do cargo tie-down anchors that are designed to be stronger than those in the previous Sierra.

The 2019 Sierra Denali will offer, later in the model year, an available GMC exclusive, industry-first carbon fiber box – the CarbonPro – developed to increase durability, efficiency and functionality of the truck. It replaces the standard steel inner panels and floor with a lightweight, purpose-designed composite material that offers best-in-class dent, scratch and corrosion resistance.

PROVEN POWERTRAIN PORTFOLIO
The 2019 Sierra Denali will offer updated versions of the proven, potent 6.2-liter and 5.3-liter V-8 engines, along with a new 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine, which will be available later in the model year.

In order to provide the perfect blend of efficiency and power, Sierra’s updated 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8 engines feature both stop/start technology, which briefly stops the engine while stopped in traffic in order to conserve fuel consumption, and a new Dynamic Fuel Management system. This new feature builds upon the Active Fuel Management system found in prior Sierras and allows an engine to run on any number of cylinders in order to provide the power or efficiency demanded by the driver.

Sierra’s 6.2-liter V-8 and 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the 5.3-liter V-8 is matched with an eight-speed automatic.
